The Fast Flat & Furious One:

Distance: 7.20km
Difficulty: 2

This route is the one to do if looking for an easy recovery run.

Starting from the garage one keeps left doing a loop around Chrisoliet back down and along the river to Leslie. Then right across the bridge and left along the river to Christo. Right into Mineraal St and back down towards Leslie, over the bridge and along the river finishing back at the garage.

Lonehill Two Oceans Route:

Distance: 18.50km
Difficulty: 5

This route is fondly referred to as the Johannesburg version of the Two Oceans Marathon, mainly because of the two little hills one encounters along the way.
Starting from the Lonehill Shopping Centre, one heads out right on Lonehill Boulevard, left into Concourse, left up Crestwood (little Chappies) around Lonehill inner.

Then right onto Cheyney, right onto Turley and then left up Leslie. One continues through Magaliesig past Design Quarter, right onto William Nicol and around Monte Casino towards Pineslopes.

Monte Route:

Distance: 9.50km
Difficulty: 3

If you are familiar with the old RAC Tough One 32km route then our Monte route will certainly bring back some memories!
It starts at the Tough One 16km mark with a gentle climb all the way up Witkoppen Rd to Monte Casino where we turn right, navigate the Monte chicanes and head down Kingfisher back home.
This is probably classified as the easiest run of all our routes but you have to make it up Witkoppen Rd first to enjoy the 5km downhill finish back home.

Julies Route:

Distance: 9.60km
Difficulty: 4

This route certainly gets the heartbeat going. Starting at the garage one climbs up Leslie Rd, right into Hornbill and then left all the way up over Bryanston Dr past the swimming school to the top of the hill (approx 2kms). From here its a downhill stretch through the suburbs going right onto Leslie for a section turning left into the suburbs and down Kingfisher past the Nature Reserve where if you’re lucky you might spot some game. The home stretch is a fast downhill stretch along Bryanston Drive to the Bryanston Police Station with the famous “checane” in the last turn before hitting home.

Irma’s Route:

Distance: 10.00km
Difficulty: 3

Starting from the garage, this route winds its way up past the Douglasdale Police Station onto Witkoppen Rd towards Monte Casino but turning right at Kingfisher.

It then winds its around Fourways High School and then left into Douglasdale suburbs with a downhill finish back home to the garage.

Golf Course:

Distance: 16.00km
Difficulty: 4

Starting from the garage go straight all the way along Robyn parallel to the river, right up Christo and then left into Amsterdam. Left into Jacaranda all the way to the top with a sharp left up the slow poison.

Rigth up into Bryanston, around the Bryanston Golf course to Grosvenor. Left down past Bryan Park centre/gym all the way to the Douglasdale Police Station. Then it’s back to finish at the garage.

River Route:

Distance: 9.00km
Difficulty: 3

Friday’s have traditionally become River Route day and depending where we are in the season will determine whether we cut this one short to a gentle 8km run or augment by going all the way to the top. Now for those that know Jacaranda Rd, then you will be mentally preparing yourself for the long uphill stretch to the top of Jacaranda around Olivedale Clinic and along the river home.

If you’re looking to fit some hill training into your run, then Jacaranda will no doubt give you value for money.

Vics Route:

Distance: 9.60km
Difficulty: 3

A gentle start out of Jukskei along the river to Leslie. Left up Leslie and then right into Hornbill. Left into Bryanston winding your way past the old German Club into Jacaranda.

Down Jacaranda and then right into Amsterdam. Right into Christo turning left back to the garage.

And then there’s always the great tasting coffee shared afterwards to end the week.

PQ’s Route:

Distance: 10.50km
Difficulty: 5

From the garage one immediately turns right into Platina St and thats where the climb starts and never seems to end. Turning right into Sherbourne st and again up and right into Post Office St where one turns left and up into Church St over Christo into the boomed suburb. Winding through here taking a left turn down Jacaranda. But as you guessed, what goes down, must eventually go up and the long slow poison up Jacaranda with a left turn into sudden death, a short sharp and steep hill before winding through Bryanston back onto Hornbill and home.

This route is not for the faint hearted.

Riaan’s Route:

Distance: 10km
Difficulty: 2

Start with the loop through the booms, then wind your way up School, Maudehurst, Carlton and Pritchard, Down Diane behind the Sasol, don’t miss the lollipop!, home down Christo and along the back straight next to the river.

Duck route:

Distance: 10km
Difficulty: 3

Up Maudehurst, left in Market, left in Carlton and do the boom loop, through the enclosed suburb, down Jacaranda, and friday route in reverse to Leslie, across the bridge, and down Robyn hill back to the Caltex.

Even More Routes

Horses Heads:

Distance: 9.60km
Difficulty: 5

Considered one of our most difficult routes yet the jury is still out on this one.

Starting from the garage all along the river on Robyn Rd, one eventually turns right up into Christo and all the way to the top past Olivedale Clinic, the water tower coming out at Bellairs Mall. One then crosses over Bellairs Dr down for a short while before turning right into Hyperion St. Here is where you have to dig deep to climb out of this dip while at same time looking for the “Horses Heads” that made this route famous.

Gills Route:

Distance: 10.50km
Difficulty: 4

For those that know the Bus Driver, you would not be deemed foolish for wondering if there were any more hills she could find on her routes and this is no exception. Starting at the garage heading alongside the river on Robyn Rd, left up Leslie to Bryanston Drive, right over the highway past New life Church and up around Bryandale Primary School coming out at the top of Bryanpark Shopping Centre. Then one winds down through the Bryanston suburbs with a short, sharp hill before turning right over the highway again onto Hornbill and left down Leslie back the way you started.

Dave’s Route:

Distance: 10.50km
Difficulty: 4

This route starts off winding it’s way through the suburbs so much so that you feel like you are going back on yourself.

Eventually to pop out at the top of Bryanston with a fast down hill finish however there is a sting the tail so save some energy for the last 1.5kms.

Logan Short:

Distance: 11.80km
Difficulty: 4

This route seems like an uphill battle forever.

It starts in a similar fashion to that of Gills route except one turns right into Logan Ave for a short downhill stretch before climbing up out of Logan and left onto Curzon Rd with another short downhill section before the monstrous climb up past Bryanpark Shopping Centre, around Bryandale Primary School winding all the way back down to the garage.

Logan Long:

Distance: 15.00km
Difficulty: 4

Ok well as you may have guessed…this route is an extended version of Logan Short route.

Instead of turning left on Curzon into Cumberland Rd and heading down/up the hill towards Bryanpark gym, you turn right and make your way around the Bryanston Golf course down Bryanston Drive.

At the traffic lights turn right into Grosvenor, then first left into Berkley, down Cottesmore Rd, Highland Ave, back onto Grosvenor and then Hornbill Rd home to the start.

Tiaan’s Voldemort Route:

Distance: 10.20km
Difficulty: 4

A grueling start with a continuous climb from the start up Bellairs Dr towards Olivedale clinic, winding back through the suburb with a gentle downhill finish. Certainly one of our tougher routes and a good one for hill training.
